There are six main types of
hearing aid and your hearing aid audiologist
will help you choose the type that is right for.
At Amplifon, we offer a wide range of the latest, high
performance hearing aids from the world's leading international
manufacturers. However, the most important issues in determining
which hearing aid is right for you are the results of your hearing
test, your lifestyle, the style of hearing aid that you prefer and
your level of dexterity. Based on these four key factors, your
hearing aid audiologist will recommend the hearing aids that are
most appropriate for you to ensure that they will satisfy your
individual needs and that you will feel comfortable and confident
wearing them every day.

Behind-the-ear (BTE)
Housed in
a small curved case that fits discreetly behind the ear, these
hearing aids are connected via a clear, thin tube to an ear
mould that's made to your ear shape for a perfect fit.
Behind-the-ear aids are available in a variety of colours to blend
easily with your hair colour or skin tone.
For all degrees of hearing loss.

Open-fit
(BTE)
This behind the
ear hearing aid is very unobtrusive as it leaves the ear open.
Sound travels into the ear via a very thin, almost 'invisible'
tube.
For mild to moderate hearing loss.

Receiver-in-canal (RIC)
This hearing aid looks similar to the Open-fit BTE
aid. Instead of travelling through a plastic tube into the ear,
sound travels through a thin wire to a receiver inside the ear
canal.
For mild, moderate and some severe hearing
loss.

In-the-canal (ITC)
In-the-canal hearing aids are smaller and more
aesthetically appealing than in-the-ear aids. They are
moulded to your ear and fit into the bottom half of the external
ear.
For mild to moderate hearing loss.

Completely-in-the-canal
(CIC)
Completely-in-the-canal hearing aids are moulded
to fit deeply into your ear canal and are therefore practically
invisible. But some people have ear canals that are too small to
accommodate this type of device.
